Youth Arts’ Showcase appeal for young talent in Mansfield

It’s the county’s answer to ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ and if you are aged between 13-19, Nottinghamshire County Council wants to hear from you for an event in Mansfield.

Young people across Nottinghamshire are being invited to take part in auditions for an exciting annual event to showcase their creative talents – where 300 young people performed to packed audiences last year.

There are just three weeks left to apply this time around.

Singers, rappers, bands, dancers, actors and performers – as well as those who work behind the production scenes – are being invited to this year’s auditions for the County Showcase at the Old Library in Mansfield from December 14-16.

Successful acts at next month’s auditions will then be invited to take to the stage to perform in front of a packed house over two nights at the Palace Theatre in Mansfield on 21st and 22nd February.

It is the perfect opportunity for young people across the county to perform in the theatre to show their creative talents. Around 300 young people took part in 50 different acts in a similar show following last year’s auditions.

Andy Dawson, Manager for County Youth Arts, at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “Shows like Britain’s Got Talent promote the value of talent shows and we want young people from across the county to take part in the biggest youth showcase in Notts.

“It is a county-based competition so we are keen for entries from every district – Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Broxtowe, Gedling, Mansfield, Newark and Sherwood and Rushcliffe – and young people must apply over the next three weeks as the deadline is Saturday, 1st December.”

Colleague Reg Clegg, events manager for County Youth Arts said: “Showcase takes place every year and each time we see incredibly talented local young people. We don’t cherry pick acts – we look at staging a diverse range of performances and young people from the county regardless of their backgrounds and experience.

“We provide professional support for the young people to get the best performances they can deliver.”
