PANTOMIME season is almost upon us and the full cast of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs are busy rehearsing ahead of its opening night on 1st December.

The costumes and sets have arrived and the theatre has been well and truly taken over, with every available space transformed into an intricate part of magical panto land.

Meeting rooms are full to the brim with wigs, dresses, shoes and hats, rehearsal rooms have been taken over by directors and their cast, dance studios are filled with music and twirling dancers and on every available corridor you can find a variety of characters learning their lines.

The star-studded cast includes Coronation Street’s Tupele Dorgu, who has been confirmed as the notorious Wicked Queen.

The TV character has enjoyed numerous appearances on the small screen, most notably on BBC’S Waterloo Road and Casualty, as well as ITV’S Loose Women.

This week, she spoke to Chad about the role and how excited she is about performing in front of the Mansfield public.

“I’m really looking forward to the panto, Christmas is my favourite time of year and I’ve heard the Mansfield crowd is a very loyal one so I hope that as many people as possible come along and enjoy it,” she said.

“I’ve been doing Chicago for the last 18 months so I’m looking forward to doing a lighthearted pantomime.

“Although the Wicked Queen is quite a mean character, I’m going to bring some humour to the role.”

Along with Tupele, the panto will also feature the ever popular seven dwarfs and, of course, the beautiful Snow White.

TV funnyman Mark James will also make a welcome return to Mansfield as Muddles.

He had previously been seen on ITV’S Britain’s Got Talent as a half man and half woman singing duo.

Cultural services manager Andrew Tucker said: “We are delighted that once again auditions are eager and excited to see our pantomime.”
