MANSFIELD folk may well think they have wandered into the West End during performances of homegrown musical A Tale Of The Two Teapots next month.

With stunning set design, actors flying across the stage, over 600 costumes and more than 20 pieces of music, writer and director George Rixon says the show will go down a storm

A Tale Of Two Teapots is the result of a collaboration between the Welbeck Estate’s Detail Dance School and Cuckney Theatre Group The Potty Players.

The plot is made up of three inter-linked groups of characters connected by young man and his passion for antiques and cinema. His adventures include a chance encounter with a lonely old lady on Halloween and the sale of an old teapot with disastrous consequences.

Said George: “The music is fantastic - it has everything from classical to 1920s Charleston to rock-pop and ballads.

“Is is one of those plays where you are either laughing or crying.

“It will appeal to all ages and children will love all the colour - it is a real touchy, feely, sensory experience.”

The musical is co-written, scored and orchestrated by 17-year-old Garibaldi student Aaron Curcher and features a red carpet scene filmed by 18-year-old West Notts College student Ryan Goff at Mansfield’s Odeon.

George said community productions such as A Tale Of Two Teapots were a now a regular event and a good opportunity for performance students to get some live experience.

Said George: “We had people from the Royal Ballet come to see us last year and said our sets were like the Went End in detail - that is not bad considering we have no budget and everything is recycled.”

The musical plays at Welbeck’s Lady Margaret Hall from 10th-14th October. For more information phone 01623 845510.
