A THREE-COURSE lunch in a sandwich pack seems little Willy Wonka-esque to me, but supermarkets all seem to be vying for the festive lunch time trade.

Sainsbury’s are doing their own bit to inject some Christmas cheer into a lunch hour, with triple sarnie pack allegedly covering a three-course calorie-busting Christmas dinner.

Smoked salmon and cream cheese for starters,turkey stuffing and bacon for mains, and cheese and chutney for afters- all for £3.50.

A bargain for a three-courser, and even more so with it fitting into the £3 meal deal with a drink and crisps.

No sherry though, no paper hat but no risk of being bored to death by a distant relative, so it’s swings and roundabouts.

But if you feel yourself slipping into a festive mood, and with lunchtime approaching, it’s worth a punt.
