Queen’s jubilee in the street
MORE than 40 communities in the area are planning to hold a street party to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee next month.
Five groups of residents in Mansfield, 11 in Ashfield and 27 in Newark and Sherwood have made expressions of interest about holding an event to Nottinghamshire County Council.
The council will arrange to deliver traffic cones and road signs to organisers during the week before the jubilee, and officers have moved to keep red tape to a minimum.
Peter Goode, traffic manager at the council, said: “We have sent out information packs to those communities, requesting additional detail which we need in order to finalise and approve their application.
“We now need that information returned to us as soon as possible.”
