MANSFIELD Museum launches an unusual new exhibition at the weekend, looking at some of the board and card games of the past.

‘The Games We Played’ runs from 15th December until 2nd February.

The exhibition explores some of the popular, as well as a number of lesser known, board and card games from the 1920s through to the 70s.

Free events linked to the display include:

Mansfield Museum Chess Club, Wednesday 21st November – Wednesday 30th January (excluding 26th December and 2nd January) 2- 4.30pm, in partnership with Ashfield and Mansfield Chess Club, all ages and abilities welcome.

Simultaneous Chess Event - Saturday 19 January, 10.30am start. The museum is looking for 10 serious chess players of any age to play a chess master in a simultaneous game. Contact Jodie Henshaw jhenshaw@mansfield.gov.uk - 463088.

The Museum is free to get in and we are open Monday – Saturday 10am-5pm
