Solas founder to perform in Southwell
ONE of the biggest names in Irish music today, John Doyle will make an appearance at the Admiral Rodney on King Street in Southwell.
John, who will be performing in the town on 24th November, was a founding member of Irish American supergroup Solas and he recently served as band leader for the Joan Baez band.
In 2010, his achievements were recognised when he was nominated for a Grammy for Best Traditional World Music album for his collaboration with fiddler Liz Carroll on Double Play. He also performed with Liz at the White House for President Obama.
He received critical acclaim for his 2010 collaboration, Exiles Return, with Karan Casey and has provided vocals and guitar with the trio McGoldrick McCusker Doyle.
