AS many of us are glued to our seats on a Saturday night watching if the latest acts really do have the X Factor, a Mansfield band are hoping to be top of the charts.

Indie/Brit pop/Mod Rock band, The Modcons, are releasing their debut CD entitled ‘Come On Come On’ in the UK singles chart on Saturday 3rd November.

To mark their entry into the charts, the Mod Cons will be performing at The Black Swan on Albert Street, Mansfield on the same day, and hosting a party for supporters.

“We are hoping to get more fans from the town and build up our reputation,” said lead vocalist and guitarist, Priory Jones, 25. “We are all from the town so our roots are well and truly in Mansfield.”

Fellow band member, Joe Anderson, 26, is lead guitarist and backing vocalist who claims his ‘awe-inspiring guitar licks and ear-catching backing vocals help give the band its sound’.

Meanwhile, Daniel Kinton, 18, is the bass player who is described as having ‘solid bass groove and driving riffs that bring the rhythm section alive’.

“We hope to capture the hearts of everybody that hears our songs,” added Priory who writes the material with Joe. “We write about things that are real and from the heart and hope to capture the ear with our almost vintage sounds.

“We have performed a number of acoustic gigs which are going down really well and recently performed at The Vintage Rock Bar in Doncaster.

The group have produced their single at Saffire Studios in the town where they are currently working on their debut album and will soon be announcing their tour dates.
