AFAMILY are enjoying huge savings and embracing the rural way of life after swapping their rented home in Southwell for a brand new Rippon one in Bilsthorpe using the FirstBuy scheme.
Sharon and Paul Woolhouse, and their two teenage daughters, are now set to save £3,000 a year thanks to the Government-backed scheme.
The Hawthorns, on Eakring Road, is now proving to be the perfect place to call home for the family of four, who have just got the keys to their Loxley-style house.
Sharon (36) said: “We were paying a lot more money renting a three-bedroom house than what we are now paying on our brand new property, which is also a three-bedroom house, and will be saving around £3,000 per year.
“Over the years we’ve moved around Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire for Paul’s job as a pig unit manager, but after 14 months of renting we wanted somewhere permanent.
“The Hawthorns has everything we need. It has a large garden and because it came with carpets and curtains already fitted, we were able to move in straight away.”
The Woolhouses opted to buy a Rippon home after being charmed by The Hawthorns’ quiet, leafy location, which sits close to 39-year-old Paul’s childhood home.
The huge savings the family will make are thanks to FirstBuy, which provides a 20 per cent equity loan jointly provided by Rippon Homes and a local HomeBuy agent, who supplies funding for the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency.
The Hawthorns features a range of three and four-bedroom homes perfectly designed for families looking for newly built properties in a rural location.
