Films celebrate Mansfield’s summer of success

People can look back on what has been ‘an exceptional year for Mansfield’, after Mansfield District Council commissioned four short films which captured some of the District’s biggest events in recent history.

The films capture the spirit and success of the summer’s big events including the Inspiring Mansfield sports challenge, the Olympic Torch visit to the District, the Mansfield Arts Festival and the Olympic and Paralympic Athletes’ Homecoming.

A copy of the film will be sent to all schools across the District and shown at local sports events including the Mansfield Sports Recognition Awards, which takes place on Monday 3rd December.

The films were produced by local company A Star Media.

Mansfield’s Executive Mayor, Tony Egginton, said: “We’re not quite at the end of the year, but so far 2012 has been an exceptional year for Mansfield. We wanted to ensure we captured the spirit of the London 2012 Olympic Games and bring the celebrations to Mansfield through a series of sporting and cultural events - I truly believe we achieved that.

“These films will act as a lasting legacy, providing a fantastic reminder of the enjoyment many experienced this summer.”

The films are available to view on the Council’s website: www.mansfield.gov.uk/summer2012
