Cantamus Choir hits awards trail
THREE members of the Cantamus Girls’ Choir won their classes in the David Clover Festival earlier this month.
Ashleigh Roberts won her ‘Songs from the Shows’ (13-16-year-old) category, while Laura Roberts beat fellow member Olivia Caputa to the ‘Intermediate Recital’ (16-to 17-year-old) category at the Sheffield event.
There was also success for Harriet Astbury, who claimed victory in the ‘Lied’ (German song) category and the ‘Oratorio (17 -21-year-old) category.
Choir members Alicia Hill and Emma Ward claimed the runners-up slot in the ‘Anniversary Class’ and the ‘Oratorio’ (13-16 year-old) category respectively.
And there was further success for Laura Roberts, who was named the most promising female singer aged between 15 and 23 years-old, Harriet Astbury, was awarded an honour for the most outstanding performance by anyone aged 21 or under of an aria from an oratorio, or of a sacred song
The Kathleen Walker Memorial Prize was awarded to Ashleigh Roberts for the most outstanding performance of a ‘Song from the Shows’ in the non-recital category.
