Why the moans in the market?

JUST what do some people want? A lovely sunny Saturday, hundreds of shoppers and visitors to Mansfield town centre and yet still some people have to moan.
I am talking about this Saturday. Once again there was free entertainment by the council in the Market Place with the remarkable guy balancing a car on his head. Rather him than me!

Yet as well as the applause of the crowds, I could hear moans from some market traders. Presumably they didn't like the crowds watching the show being near to their stalls?

I thought the traders would be pleased that the council is trying to attract shoppers into the centre of Mansfield on a summer Saturday, rather than letting them be enticed to attractions elsewhere.

Last week in Chad I read about the Shop Local campaign. The council, often criticised over the market, seems to be trying to do more.

What do people want?

I like Mansfield town centre. As an old person I want to see it busy. I don't have a car to travel way out of the town. I want to see things like this happening in my town centre, which they seem to be nowadays .

M. CROOKES.
