Toilet closure was not wanted

I COULD hardly believe what was said by the councillor responsible for authorising the closure of the public toilets in St John Street, Mansfield, when she said that she had the public support to do so.
I was taking signatures on a petition against the closures, and I could have taken many more as the 'general public' were eager to sign.

On talking to these people, they were telling me that they could not understand why we, the public, should suffer and not the 'law breakers' and asking why councillors could not understand it either.

GORDON FOSTER, BEM,
Trustee of Age Concern, Mansfield, and the Mansfield Elderly Persons Action Committee.
