Public transport can't be relied on

I JUST had to write a letter of thanks to public transport and the way they keep the taxi firms in business in the Chad area.
My son started a new job three months ago in Sutton. He only lives at Langwith Junction, so no problem with public transport (you would think!).
If he is on early shift, he has to catch the 5.55am train to Mansfield (and it sometimes comes). By the time he and other would-be passengers have realised that it isn't coming (no info on monitor) it's too late to catch a bus, so he orders yet another taxi.
Then when he's on late shift he thinks "I'll catch the 11 am (23) bus to Mansfield", and, guess what, it sails straight past him and other would-be passengers with their hands out!
Basically, if he wants to save up to get his own transport to work, he needs to stop paying taxi fares to get there.
The taxi firms must love the incompetence of the train and bus firms, but my son's and other workers' wages are suffering.
