Making waste disposal easy
Published Date:

WITH reference to recent concerns regarding the County Council's policy of accepting heavy waste, I am in agreement with recent correspondents who have run into trouble when attempting to dispose of such waste at County Council recycling sites.
One of our priorities is to ensure that all waste is disposed of in as safe a manner as possible, whilst adhering to the health and Safety regulations that govern such facilities. Unfortunately the regulations that cover the recycling centres are vastly different from heavy waste disposal sites.
One of our long-term priorities is to make it as easy as possible to dispose of all kinds of waste in as safe a manner as possible and the County Council is currently reviewing the placement of heavy waste disposal sites; our intention is to have dedicated areas where this can be made easy, and therefore stopping the problems that can run into when trying to dispose of such waste at recycling centres.
COUN CHRIS WINTERTON,
Nottinghamshire County Council.
