I HAVE just returned from a Sister Cities visit to Mansfield Ohio, and my first job was to read the Chads I had missed.
I was a bit annoyed that despite numerous representations from various elderly groups, and a report from a select committee, the portfolio holder Coun Allsop has gone ahead and closed the public toilets on St John Street, possibly because of drug abuse.

This is a police matter and the majority should not suffer because of a minority.

The Chad report also says Coun Allsop stood up and declared 'it's show time'. Perhaps for her, showtime will come at the next election as pensioners will not forget.

I strongly feel that the council's standards committee should investigate her behaviour at the meeting.

Neither Members of Parliament or any council I have ever been involved with over 40 years would think that standing up as an elected member and shouting 'it's showtime' is an appropriate action for an elected representative and lowers the credibility of the position of elected members.

So I await action from the council's standards board.

ALLAN McLEAN,
Egmanton Road, Meden Vale.
