The eagerly-awaited Worksop Music Festival has been cancelled amid wrangling between organisers and Bassetlaw Council.
Music fans will not be able to see the likes of Suzi Quatro or Dr and The Medics storm the stage at Worksop Town Football Club in the two-day extravaganza, which was scheduled to take place between 14th and 15th June.

Bassetlaw Council's lack of consent to the event means festival-goers will have to seek their music fix elsewhere this summer.

Tickets for the event went on sale last year after entertainment company 1861 Leisure announced the impressive festival line-up in October last year, featuring an array of blues, indie, pop and rock acts.

But with concerns raised by Worksop Town Football Club over the potential effects a festival would have on the football pitch, Bassetlaw Council – which owns the ground – has now pulled out of the deal.

However, the council has been keen to reassure people who had bought tickets – £26 – £39.50 – for the concert would have their money fully refunded in due course.
