SUNSHINE and fun will be the name of the game for the next two months as the annual Summer in the Streets extravaganza kicks off in Mansfield town centre on Saturday.
Organisers say this year's summer sizzler will be bigger and better than ever before –– boasting a host of acts and entertainers as well as new flagship music festival in the Market Place.

The showpiece attraction on 13th July has been christened Summer Music Sundae and is a six-hour show featuring a Michael Jackson impersonator –– who has actually performed for the man himself, as well as Girls Aloud and Take That tribute artists and performances by reggae and swing bands.

Party-goers will also be able to enjoy fun and games with the Mansfield 103.2 roadshow.

And, of course, no Summer in the Streets would be the same without the traditional Party in the Park, which takes place on 2nd August at Titchfield Park.

X-Factor star Andy Abraham is already confirmed as the headline act, while there will also be performances by girl group Stonefoxx and a High School Musical tribute as well as appearances by a variety of local singers.

But before that, this Saturday's line-up includes street entertainment by Maynard –– known simply as the man in the box, at 11.30am and 1pm –– and a performance by the Dronfield Brass Band, from noon-2pm.

And next week also marks the start of the Schools in the Streets events, which sees pupils from schools around Mansfield showcasing their talents in the town centre –– where they will performing music, dance and drama.

Says town centre events and promotions co-ordinator Lisa Vincent: "We are really looking forward to this year's Summer in the Streets. We have got a great line-up of acts in the town centre –– we just hope that the sun is out and everyone can have some fun."
