THE COUNTDOWN is well under way to Mansfield's biggest FREE outdoor celebration of the year - Party in the Park this Saturday.
This year's day-long musical treat for the district is less than a week away . . . on Saturday, 2nd August at Titchfield Park.

And the line-up of acts for the nine-hour show — a mixture of star names and local performers — has been confirmed.

This week organisers have revealed that local folk rock group the Beetroot Kings will also be on the bill.

The Kings, who launched the Splendour Festival in Nottingham at the weekend alongside The Charlatans, are fast becoming one of the most talked about bands in the county.

Headlining the show is X Factor and Eurovision star Andy Abraham, who shot to fame on the hit TV show and represented the UK at this year's Euro music fest.

But before he takes to the stage to round-off what promises to be a great day, partygoers are promised a variety of musical entertainment.
It all starts at 12noon with a wide variety of music.

Among the local acts performing (in no particular order) are Scott Davies, Jodie Haines, Crimson Circle, Phil Ashmore, Claire Elise, Child V Octopus, Tastebuds, Calling For Heroes and The Beetroot Kings, together with girl band Stonefoxx, former Brookside TV star Leon Lopez, Alana Estrella, High School Musical tribute and Andy Abraham.

Also, look out for entertainment for youngsters in the Meadows area.
This will include a display by the Castle Grove Gymnastics team, a rodeo bull, donkeys, trampolines, circus workshops, owl displays, inflatable slides and small children's rides.

Those intending to go to Party in the Park are reminded that no alcohol is allowed to be brought into the park, but a bar and drinking area will be available on site.

Party in the Park is the focal point of Summer in the Streets, free entertainment put together by Mansfield District Council in conjunction with Mansfield Town Centre Partnership over the summer weeks.

Summer in the Streets continues this weekend with Artizani Desert Island Discs in Mansfield Market Place on Saturday, as well as crazy golf on Tuesday.

A full list of Summer in the Streets events can be found at the website www.mansfieldtowncentre.co.uk
