FANS of 50s chart-topping tenor vocalist David Whitfield will come together for a tribute show at Mansfield Palace Theatre on 21st May.
'Remember When' features tenor Graham Lee singing some of David's biggest hits, including number one single Answer Me and his first and biggest hit, Cara Mia, which won him a gold disc.

The show will also feature live music from the 40s, 50s and 60s provided by the Golden Time duo and performers Gemma Turner and Angie Diggens, including wartime medley show tunes and early rock and roll.

Ivan Trusler, a member of the David Whitfield Appreciation Society and one of the show's organisers, says the venue is the perfect place to hold a tribute to the singer, who died of a brain haemorrhage in 1980.

He said: "David first played in Mansfield in 1979, and the whole thing started after I included bonus tracks which were recordings of that show on Hey There, released last year.

"We are going to have a number of people from David's past there, including his manager and some of his biggest fans from all over the country."

Tickets for the show are £10 or £9 for concessions and are available on Mansfield 633133.

The 2.30pm matinee showing is preceded by a meeting of David Whitfield fans at the theatre, starting at 12.30pm. For more information contact Ivan on 01206 515280.
