A HOST of young stars will headline the Nottingham Classics 2008-9 season after the line-up was revealed this week.
Classical BRIT award-winners Natalie Clein and Ruth Palmer will be joined by opera star Alfie Boe, the acclaimed Canadian violinist, Leila Josefowicz, and the Latvian sisters Baiba and Lauma Skride.
Following a successful season last year, when audiences rose to the highest level for a decade, the orchestral concert series will be offering another winning mix of classical masterworks.
The season opens in style in October when Igor Stravinsky's brilliant Rite of Spring is performed by the Halle –– a famous orchestral showpiece which caused a riot at its Paris premiere in 1913.
Much-loved modern classics, including Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet, Vaughn Williams' A Sea Symphony, Samuel Barber's Violin Concerto and Carl Nielson's Fifth Symphony will also be major performances during the season, which is all being performed at Nottingham Royal Concert Hall.
Beethoven fans are in for a real treat too, with several performances of his overtures, concertos and symphonies being brought to life by, amongst others, the acclaimed Berlin Symphony Orchestra and Natasha Paremski.
Other orchestras appearing in the season include the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Tickets for all the evening concerts are £9-£30 and are available from the box office on 0115 9895555. For more information visit
