'Pavarotti of the organ'

THE FAMILIAR sound of organs playing at The Crossing Church will soon be taken up a notch with the arrival of the instrument supremo Carlo Curley.
‘Pavarotti of the organ’ as he is dubbed, is promised to astound audiences when he comes to The Crossing Church on Saturday 9th August.
A range of his own variations, including an alternate tune to ‘Star Spangled Banner’ will feature on the night, as part of this special musical programme.
Concerts programmer David Jordan said: ”Carlo is a musical whirlwind and packed 800 people into Southwell Minster on Easter Monday. He takes all the stuffiness out of the organ which is often just seen as a ‘churchy’ instrument.”
Carlo’s performances have been recognised on TV, and he has performed on many shows like The Wogan Show, Saturday Superstore and also guest starred on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs.
Added Mr Jordan: ”Standard organ recitals appeal to very limited audiences and Carlo’s style and popularisation of the instrument triggers a lot of envy amongst traditionalists.”
The Crossing insists people will be fascinated by how fast Carlo moves his hands and feet and to help, organisers will be bringing a widescreen TV to illustrate his abilities for all to see.
Tickets for the event on Saturday 9th August are £10, £8 for rear hall seats, and £4 for children and students. Doors open at 6.45pm for the 7.30pm concert.
