HARDY DRUGS TRIAL: Jury returns verdicts

MANSFIELD businessman Gary Hardy has been convicted of five charges in his high-profile drugs trial - but cleared of another five.
Following the two-month trial and more than three days of deliberations at Nottingham Crown Court, the jury has found Hardy (45), of The Copse, guilty of:

Conspiracy to supply heroin.
Conspiracy to supply amphetamines.
Money laundering.
Having £14,000 worth of cash gained through criminal activities.
Possessing criminal property


But the 12 jurors have cleared him of conspiracy to supply cocaine and four counts of conspiracy to supply cannabis between 1st January 2000 and 5th January 2007.

His brother Paul Hardy (47), of Willow Avenue, Kirkby, has been convicted of:

Conspiracy to supply heroin.
Conspiracy to supply amphetamines.
Two counts of conspiracy to supply cannabis.
Possessing criminal property on 4th January 2007.


But he has been cleared of conspiracy to supply cocaine and two other counts of conspiracy to supply cannabis.

The brothers' mother June Muers (66), formerly of Pearl Avenue, Kirkby, has been found guilty of one charge of conspiracy to supply amphetamines and two charges of conspiracy to supply cannabis between 1st January 2003 and 5th January 2007.

She was also convicted of possessing criminal property on 4th January 2007.


In addition, Paul Hardy's partner Zoe Chapman, of Willow Avenue, Kirkby, has been convicted of conspiracy to supply amphetamines - and cleared of two counts of supplying cannabis between 1st January 2000 and 5th January 2007.

A fifth defendant, Clipstone man Carl Busby (45), of Forest Road, has been cleared of money laundering.

The Hardy brothers have been remanded in custody until sentencing at a later date, while Muers and Chapman have been bailed.
