TRIBUTE bands have a reputation for being a bit naff so I was slightly sceptical about Letz Zep's ability to emulate one of my favourite bands, Led Zeppelin.
And while the gig at Nottingham's Royal Concert Hall on Friday evening was not a sell-out, there was still a substantial and loyal following which helped create the electric atmosphere and make the concert a great success.

The band themselves are extremely talented showmen and musicians, with frontman singer Billy Kulke holding the attention of the captive audience with his flamboyant performance.

Meanwhile, lead guitarist Chris Cawte was simply incredible in the way in which he captured classics such as Babe I'm Going to Leave You and of course, Stairway to Heaven.

What made the band truly exceptional though was their ability to not just copy a well-known band but also to add their own interpretation and creative flair to the performance, made possible by the good chemistry between the members.

All in all, the band managed to pull off a very difficult task and I warmed to them as performers as well as being suitably impressed with their musicianship.

And while they are obviously not the real deal, they are a fantastic band and are certainly a cut above other imitators.
