When you're considered the best AC/DC tribute band in Europe by none other than Angus Young himself, then you have to think you're doing something right.
Having seen a fair few tribute acts you enter such gigs with an open mind. Some are ropey to say the least while some you can close your eyes and be in the same room as those they're paying tribute to.
AB/CD — at the Intake Club on Saturday — are th
e latter.

Looks wise they try, but obvious the tribute is in the sound. The rythmn section are no Rudd, Young or Williams visually, but you can't fault the music.

'Angus' has all the moves, but is a good foot taller than the little Aussie livewire (you see what I did there) and 'Bon Scott' is more like a thinner Bill Oddie. Despite all this, and as they say on Stars In Their Eyes, it's the sound which is the clincher and my God have they got that sorted.

Taking all their material from the Bon Scott era AB/CD are as good as it gets. From Sin City through The Jack, Highway to Hell and Rock & Roll Damnation this band are early AC/DC incarnate. Playing to a crowd of predominantly 30 somethings reliving the days of old AB/CD couldn't put a foot wrong.

As Mr Scott once said Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be but on this particular Saturday night the Intake Club was a more appealing option.

Slightly cooler, but only just and I doubt the beer's as good 'downstairs'. Scott's alter ego had the talk sorted between songs, while tall Angus recreated the trademark strut around the limited stage space.

Closing the main set with Touch Too Much and the mandatory Whole Lotta Rosie AB/CD came back to It's A Long Way To The Top If You Wanna Rock & Roll and departed to the anthem which is Let There Be Rock.

You can see how this band gain such praise from upon high because it's truley deserved. AB/CD keep the music and memory of one of the greatest rock vocalist alive.

Long may it continue.
