We had another good week last week at Southwell's jumps card, when Strong Coffee obliged as expected in the beginners chase for Oliver Sherwood and Dominic Elsworth.
Unfortunately, due to the late withdrawal of Wichita Lineman, followers of this column would not have been able to lay him on Betdaq as recommended, and this resulted in Strong Coffee going off at a much shorter price than anticipated.

Racing is
back at Southwell tomorrow, but this time a flat card on the all-weather surface.

The feature race of the day is the 3.20pm Class 4 Hold Your Birthday Celebrations At Southwell Racecourse Handicap to be run over six furlongs.

Course specialist Pawan runs in this race and he and his trainer/jockey Ann Stokell have done themselves proud around Southwell in the past.

I would advise backing Pawan each way at 8/1 with Boylesports in this contest on the assumption that he will overcome a bad draw and a slightly below par performance nine days ago, to find himself in the places once more.

Ed Dunlop's charge, Temple of Thebes is being dropped in class and I would recommend backing this at 7/1 with Boylesports to get his head in front again.

Irish Pearl and High Curragh have both previously been tried at higher levels and would be horses to keep an eye on if contesting similar races in the future.

Nottingham Racecourse stages its penultimate meeting of the season on Wednesday with a seven race flat card.

The ground at Colwick Park is currently soft, and there are two feature races on the card both run over one mile.

The first of these two Class 4 contests is the Oath Maiden Stakes for Colts and Geldings at 1.40pm.

There are only two horses making their debut in this race, although there is relatively little form to find between any of the others.

The horse I would suggest backing in this contest is Advisor for Newmarket based trainer Michael Bell and jockey Jamie Spencer.

This trainer/jockey combination have recorded plenty of success this season and I think this Anabaa colt will have improved significantly since his debut over course and distance three weeks ago.

He is currently 8/1 with Boylesports.

This may be an opportunity to lay (bet against) the likely favourite Dome Rocket on Betdaq, as I suspect he will need a slightly longer trip after he finished running on over an extra furlong at Goodwood earlier this month.

In the Cleanevent Handicap over the same trip at 3.10pm, the horse which stands out most prominently for consistency is Rhadegunda. T

Trainer John Gosden has been in flying form recently with a brace of wins at the prestigious Breeders Cup meeting over the weekend in America, and this looks a perfect opportunity for his filly to get her head in front yet again.

She is currently priced at around 15/8 with Boylesports.

Favourites have a good record in these two races at Nottingham so for those of you who like to spread bet, it may be an opportunity to sell (bet lower) SP's with Sporting Index.
