I hope followers of this column find themselves in profit again this week, following the defeat of Vital Statistics (recommended as a lay on Betdaq) and the third placed Thewhirlingdervish at 10/1 each way with Boylesports.
Kanpai also ran a really nice race after such a long break to finish a very close second in the stayers race.

He will definitely be one to follow when he returns to the N.H. scene.

Jump racing returns to Southwell tomorrow, when the Nottingha
mshire track hosts a meeting transferred from the flood-damaged Worcester.

The first contest on the six race card is a class three handicap chase, attracting entries from some of the top yards in the country.

David Pipe is a trainer who has enjoyed an amazing first couple of seasons.

He runs Star Of Germany in this race, a winner last time out who, although stepping up in class, looks able to follow up with another success. Charlie Mann's horse, Jazz Dance, looks the one to beat, although I think Star Of Germany represents far better value at 5/1 with Boylesports.

Each-way punters may like to look at Urban Tiger at the bottom of the handicap, currently at 10/1 with Betdaq.

Carl Llewellyn's charge is allocated a feather weight of 10 stone, and with a further 3lbs to be taken off by his claiming jockey, has a good chance of running into a place at least after his win at Huntingdon last time out.

The 3.00pm handicap hurdle is another interesting race on the card. The likely favourite for this contest is Charge It, a JP McManus-owned, Jonjo O'Neill-trained runner.

He was successful last time out and with the Champion jockey Tony McCoy on board, looks to be the one to beat at 7/2 with Boylesports. Canndar is a runner I would suggest backing each way in this three mile race.

He has been running consistently well and his rookie trainer, Tim Vaughan, has recorded some good results.

He is currently 8/1 and would be nice value for an each-way punt. Another Welsh trained runner is Lyster for father and son team David and Tony Evans. This is another horse who looks in good form at the moment and it would be a good idea to watch the market for clues as to how this one will run as I think he will also go close from nearer the top of the handicap.

The French trained Tamayuz can prove he is the best miler in Europe by taking the Queen Elizabeth II stakes at Ascot on Saturday tomorrow at around 13/8 with Boylesports.

Freddie Head's superstar has only been beaten once in his five-race career, but has won back-to-back Group 1's in effortless style recently, suggesting that he is out of the very top drawer.

Raven's Pass is being trained with the Breeders Cup in mind, whilst Henrythenavigator has had a long, hard season and actually makes plenty of appeal as a lay on Betdaq.
