ORGANISERS of this year's Schools in the Street festival are appealing for more students to take part.
Schools are being urged to join in the two-week event, which forms part of the Summer in the Streets extravaganza.

Each weekday lunchtime, from Monday 6th to Friday 17th July, pupils will be entertaining shoppers and visitors to the town centre through dancing, singing, music and acting.

There will be the chance for upto four schools to showcase their pupils' talents each day during half-hour spots in Mansfield Market Place.

The annual event always proves popular with both youngsters and shoppers - and already Newgate Lane Primary School, Ethel Wainwright School, All Saints' School and Queen Elizabeth School are taking part.

If you would like to join in, contact town centre events and promotions co-ordinator Lisa Vincent on Mansfield 463802 for details.

Schools in the Streets is one of the first events of entertainment fest Summer in the Streets, which begins on Saturday 27th June with a visit from the tennis playing Fairly Famous Family to mark Wimbledon.

As well as one-off Saturday events and street entertainment in the Market Place and Schools in the Streets, the festival — now in its seventh year — includes two major music-based events, Summer Music Sundae on Sunday 12th July and Party in the Park on Saturday 1st August.

It is all part of a year-round programme of free town centre events staged by Mansfield Town Centre Partnership and Mansfield District Council – in partnership with the Four Seasons Shopping Centre, Experience Nottingham, the Chad, 103.2 and West Notts College.
