NOT many of us who live to the north and west of Mansfield could have failed to see the plumes of black smoke puthering into the night sky on Friday evening.
Around 400,000 tyres went up in smoke at the Robin Hood Environmental factory in Warsop.
- Warsop tyre blaze could burn for five days
As many of you will know the scenes were like something out of a disaster movie - and some residents close to the site were evacuated from their homes.
In situations like this we, the public, are totally reliant on the emergency services and their swift response.
Within half an hour of the fire being reported there were 15 fire engines at the scene.
We expected them to bring the blaze under control, and that's just what they did. It took more than three days, but they were there doing the job, that we can all too often take for granted.
Everyone the Chad has spoken to about the fire has had nothing but praise for the crews that have worked for hours at a time on this incident.
People's safety was paramount and put first by the fire service, and also by the police who were busy controlling the roads in and around Warsop all over the weekend.
Our thanks must go to all involved for their professional and swift response to this terrible fire.
