Stags should keep survival fight a top priority

ONE of the endearing attractions of football is its total unpredictability.
Take Mansfield Town. Fighting desperately to survive as a League club and yet, thanks to that splendid performance on Saturday away against Brighton, now looking forward to hosting an improbable Fourth Round FA Cup tie against Premiership opposition Middlesborough.

Of course, it would be fantastic if they managed to pull off the sensation of the round. Every Stags' fan will be willing them on to do just that.

But what matters far more is securing the long-term future of the club. That means two things: winning league matches and getting the ownership issue sorted as soon as possible.

In comparison, the FA Cup is little more than a fleeting, if highly enjoyable, distraction.
