LAST week, we posed the question what we would do for superlatives if Mansfield's swimming sensation Rebecca Adlington were to win a second Olympic gold medal.
Now that she has - in such sensational, world record breaking style - we've been put on the spot!

So here goes:

Remarkable
Extraordinary
Breathtaking
Electrifying
Charismatic
Champion
Amazing

Awesome
Dedicated
Lovely
Incredible
Non-stop
Golden
Tremendous
Olympian
Natural

This 19-year-old swimming sensation is the undisputed British star of the Beijing Games. She has won the hearts of the nation with her extraordinary exploits, achieved with such down-to- earth modesty.

Sport is unlikely to have a better role model. And Mansfield will have to go a very long way to find a finer ambassador for the town and its young people.

Congratulations, Rebecca, surely the 'face' already of the 2012 London Olympics?
