ANYONE who can call Ravenshead's The Hutt their local pub should consider themselves lucky.
They not only have one of the most enjoyable and relaxing places to enjoy a drink but also a great selection of food for any occasion.

Just beside the busy A60, The Hutt stands out and looks welcoming –– which probably accounts for the many people who drop in for an after-work drink or evening meal.

Like any great pub it has a wide selection of real ales for the proper drinkers among us and a good selection of wines at affordable prices.

Having visited The Hutt many times for a drink on my way home, I thought it was time to check out their food so, along with some colleagues, I stopped off for lunch last week.

The pub's main meal prices are affordable in their own right (roughly £6-£11), but the pub also offers a special 'light lunch' menu with great choice, from jacket potatoes and salads to burgers and other hot meals.

I opted for the sausage and mash while my friend went for the traditional beef burger and another the healthier choice of a jacket potato.

When they appeared the word 'light' seemed very appropriate. The burger was on an otherwise empty plate, which could have done with at least a few chips or salad to make it look a bit more value for money, especially as it was the most expensive at £6.55.

The mash came with just two sausages but did look filling for just £5.15 and the jacket potato was the greatest serving with a fresh salad at £4.90.

Although at first we questioned the size of the meals, we soon realised The Hutt have struck the perfect balance with their delicious homemade food.

Often people go for a pub lunch and eat a meal only to return to work stuffed and struggling to get through the rest of the day.

But after finishing a light lunch at The Hutt you are left content that you have eaten well but awake and refreshed for the second half of your day.

However, where the pub really wins is the environment. The Hutt is one of the nicest, welcoming pubs around, which attracts people from all walks of life.
