Ashfields - a great place to eat

DESPITE its less than idyllic location just off the busy A38, the Ashfields in Sutton is a great place to spend a relaxing lunch time.
When we arrived at the pub on Thursday afternoon, there were already a few diners enjoying something from the extensive menu which includes the bar menu, specials board and carvery.
The choice of dishes was very impressive and included light bites such as soup and jacket potatoes, as well as more hearty meals like steak and fish and chips.
Eventually, I decided to go for the mozzarella and roast vegetable wraps while one of my dining companions chose the beefburger while the other chose the chicken kebab.
We did not have to wait very long for the food to arrive and were pleased at the generous portions as well as plenty of fresh salad and spiral fries.
I enjoyed my wraps very much and my only complaints would be that the carrots were slightly undercooked and there were probably too many fries, which meant I could not finish the whole meal.
My colleagues were impressed with the chicken, which was served in a pitta because it included good-sized pieces and was well-flavoured.
The beefburger also went down well, although I was told that it was perhaps a little over-cooked for his taste.
All the staff at the Ashfields were extremely pleasant and the well above average pub food, along with the reasonable prices, makes it a good place to stop for lunch or dinner.
