Woodhouse man convicted of twice attacking partner
A COURT'S decision to find a Mansfield Woodhouse man guilty of attacking his partner twice was met with tears from the victim.
Darren Cooke (39), of Beech Tree Avenue, was convicted by Mansfield magistrates of causing actual bodily harm to his partner, Amanda Barber, on two separate occasions.
The court was told during a trial on Thursday that Cooke stayed at Ms Barber's Scarrington Court home on 9th January.
The following morning he was then asked to leave and refused, before getting angry and pushing her onto the bed and kicking her.
Said Ms Barber: "I don't really want to give evidence against him because we are getting back together, we just had an argument and it got out of hand that's all."
Magistrates were then told that Cooke visited Ms Barber a second time on 23rd February and she was again assaulted – although Cooke denied having visited her home at the time.
Cooke had previously been cautioned for assaulting her in December of last year and was given conditional bail to not contact Ms Barber or visit her home.
Cooke was told custody remained an option and was remanded in custody until sentencing on 1st May.
