A BURGLAR who arrived at a Mansfield home in a sports car had his number taken by a neighbour as he drove off with a stolen flat screen television in the boot.
Jonathan White admitted two house burglaries and was jailed for 21 months on Monday at Nottingham Crown Court.

White, of High Hazel Drive, Mansfield Woodhouse, was seen arriving at the house on Bentinck Street in a silver MG on 8th April.

Prose
cutor Paul Stimpson told the court a window was broken to gain entry and a DVD player was stolen along with the television.

There was not a lot of property in the house as the woman living there had earlier been the victim of a fire.

A neighbour passed the car registration number to the police and White was stopped with the stolen goods still in the car boot.

During another burglary, he had left blood in a house and he also asked the court for four other offences to be taken into consideration.

His mother told Judge Michael Stokes, the Recorder of Nottingham, that her son had been doing well on a community order, but then he had been badly affected by the death of his grandmother.

Judge Stokes told White he had been fortunate not to receive a custodial sentence last time in November 2006, largely because of what his mother had said on his behalf.

How awful, the death of someone you love is NOT an excuse to do these kinds of things. Good on the neighbor for being alert and helping out the community. I really hate people who use someone elses death as an excuse, it's really disrespectful and just not the way to go.

Complete rubbish, when both sets of my grandparents died I didn't go and rob a bank. You are responsible for your own actions and are old enough to know right from wrong. You are just using a poor excuse for the fact that your a greedy thieving scumbag. Doing well on a community order? Doing well would be to get a job and stop stealing other peoples property.
