A TIBSHELF dad who left work early and found his partner in their bedroom with a youth is facing jail for attacking them.
Chesterfield magistrates were told last Wednesday that Darren Wood's daughter had seen Leanne Fitt in a bedroom with the 17-year-old youth.

News of the incident reached Wood at work via his father and he returned home unexpectedly.

He then hit the youth over the head with a metal ratchet, causing him to bleed from a wound.

Ms Fitt told police she was wearing her dressing gown and the teenager was on the bed fully clothed when Wood entered the room without warning.

Prosecutor Rosemary Lake told the court: "She said he saw the two of them and hit the youth over the head a few times. He fell to the floor covered in blood. The defendant hit him twice more while he was on the floor.

"She encouraged the youth to run from the house. To help him do this she held the defendant's waist band and she was hit on the left hand with the tool and then on the right-hand side of her body.

"Police attended the address and found a male with a bad head injury and the defendant was arrested."

Wood (36), of Peveril Road, admitted assaulting Ms Fitt and wounding the youth — who cannot be identified for legal reasons — at Tibshelf on 28th January.

Magistrates said their powers of punishment were insufficient in this case and committed him to be sentenced by a judge at Derby Crown Court on 18th July.

Probation service reports were ordered and he was granted bail on condition he did not contact either victim or go near an address in Stanton Hill.

In mitigation, Julian Hammond said: "He has no previous history of violence and the injuries were relatively minor."
