A PLEASLEY man was caught inside Chesterfield FC's Saltergate stadium in defiance of a football banning order, a court was told.
Adam Copping (21) entered an enclosure reserved for Mansfield Town fans at the FA Cup first round clash between the Stags and arch rivals Chesterfield on 8th November.

He had been banned from football matches for six years following disorder at Sheffield United's Bramall Lane ground in 2005.

Copping, of Holbrook Close, appeared before Chesterfield magistrates on Wednesday and admitted entering a stadium in breach of a football banning order.

He further admitted breaching a suspended jail sentence. He had received a nine-week term, suspended for two years, in July of last year for assault.

The hearing was adjourned for probation service reports and he is due to be back in court on 17th December, when the prosecution will seek a further football banning order.

  • Craig Swinscoe (25), of Peel Crescent, Mansfield, denied using threatening behaviour at Chesterfield on the day of the match. A trial will be held at the same court on 26th January.
