A SHIREBROOK man who was given a two-year community order for common assault has been warned if he breaches the order in any way, he will be sent to prison.
Raymond Guinnane (42), of Larch Avenue, was convicted of three assaults at a trial on 18th June and was sentenced by Mansfield magistrates on Thursday.

The court was told Guinnane assaulted his former partner, her lodger and her brother on 18th January this year.

Guinnane had been drinking with Sharon Roberts and her lodger Brian James on the day of the assaults and after they left she arranged to meet him later the same day in a local pub.

Guinnane, however, went to her house and after letting himself in, went upstairs and found Mrs Roberts and Mr James in bed together.

He grabbed her by the neck and demanded to know what was going on before punching Mr James.

Mrs Roberts ran downstairs and Guinnane followed her and pushed her to the floor before punching her several times and kicking her.

Guinnane then went back upstairs and Mr James tackled him at the top of the stairs causing the pair to both fall down the staircase.

While Mr James was on the floor, Guinnane punched and kicked him and hit him about the back with a chair.

Mrs Roberts went to fetch her brother and when he arrived he tried to restrain Guinnane, who bit him on the arm.

Magistrates sentenced Guinnane to a 24-month community order, including 24 months' supervision, six-month alcohol treatment and a requirement to attend a domestic violence programme.

He was also slapped with £300 court costs and was ordered to pay compensation of £50 to Mrs Roberts and £150 to Mr James.
