A HOMELESS Mansfield woman who breached a community order imposed for four shop thefts and a Bail Act offence has been given a final chance.
Raella Parkinson (28) admitted breaching the order by failing to attend unpaid work and supervision appointments in March.

Mansfield magistrates were told last Wednesday she had missed four of eight appointments, had only completed one hour of her 100-hour unpaid work sentence and had not been in contact with the probation service for two months.

In mitigation, Chris Perry said she faced a number of problems – the most significant being her homelessness – which made it difficult for her to comply with the order.

He added Parkinson had made a commitment to work with the probation service and as it was her first breach it was an opportunity for her to receive help.

Magistrates handed her an additional 20-hours unpaid work and warned her if she failed to comply with the order she would return to court and could face a prison sentence.

She was told: "You can't ignore these orders and they are there for your benefit. But it needs some commitment and input from you."

Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime.

Lock this thief up, then make her do the unpaid work when she gets out.
