A DRUNKEN Shirebrook teenager damaged his mother's home and attacked a 17-year-old girl after being unable to enter the property.
Craig Hutchinson returned to the unoccupied address on Field Drive during the early hours of 17th August after drinking at a friend's barbecue party.
Prosecutor Rosemary Lake told Chesterfield magistrates that his mother, Pamela King, returned home soon afterwards and saw him kicking the front door.
She shouted to him to stop and a teenage girl intervened when he began shouting back at his mother.
"The girl says he grabbed her throat with both hands and pinned her up against a garden trampoline, knocking the wind out of her," said Mrs Lake on Wednesday.
"He denied intending to damage the door, saying he just wanted someone to let him in. He admitted pushing the girl but not grabbing her around the throat."
Hutchinson (18), now living on Myrtle Close, Shirebrook, admitted damaging the door and assaulting the girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons.
He was ordered to do 60 hours' unpaid work and was handed an 18-month probation supervision order. He must also pay £75 compensation to the victim of the assault.
Presiding magistrate Grant Stothart told Hutchinson: "This was a drunken, violent and unprovoked attack. We are told that you are no longer welcome at your mother's address.
"You may think I'm an old fuddy duddy but you might not see your 30th birthday if you carry on drinking as you have been. Start looking for a job."
In mitigation, Bob Bashforth said Hutchinson was regularly drinking a bottle of vodka and three litres of cider a day until recently, but now drinks moderately.
He added: "On the night of this incident he drank to the point where his legs were getting a bit wobbly.
"There had been something of a fall-out with his girlfriend's cousin, which put him in bad mood, and then he got home and found the door locked and didn't know his mum was out."
