A MEDEN VALE man who damaged CCTV and furniture while in a cell at Lincoln Prison has been given a three-month curfew.
Adrian Hill (32), of Portland Crescent, appeared before Mansfield magistrates on Thursday charged with damaging property and possession of heroin.
The court was told how Hill was being held in a special until at the prison on 22nd May when he pulled a CCTV camera off a wall and damaged furniture in his cell.
Richard Davis, in mitigation, told the court Hill was unwell during his time at Lincoln Prison and had suffered several epileptic fits –– causing him to knock out 12 of his teeth.
He said Hill could not remember causing the damage in the cell but admitted it must have been him.
Mr Davis added Hill was not well enough to be dealt with for causing the damage during his time at Lincoln Prison, which was why he was arrested soon after being released.
The court was told Hill was found to have a small amount of heroin on him when he was arrested.
Mr Davis said Hill was getting help for his drug problem and was being supported by his family.
Magistrates gave a Hill six-month community order, including a three-month curfew between the hours of 9pm and 6am. He was also ordered to pay £250 compensation to Lincoln Prison.
A MANSFIELD Woodhouse man who admitted assaulting his wife after a booze-fuelled row has been ordered to complete a two-year supervision order.
Graham Franks (51), of Poplar Street, admitted slapping his wife and twisting her arm on 17th August when he appeared before Mansfield magistrates on Thursday.
Magistrates were told how Franks and his wife had been arguing on and off for a few days when the argument escalated in the early hours of 17th August.
The pair had been drinking when they began arguing in the kitchen of their home after both returning from nights out.
Franks admitted slapping his wife twice, which caused her to fall off a stool she was sat on, after she told him she wanted a divorce. He also twisted her arm and held it behind her back.
He admitted the five-year relationship was 'rocky' from the outset and that he was now separated from his wife.
Magistrates ordered Franks to complete a two-year supervision order –– including a domestic abuse programme. He was also ordered to pay £100 compensation and £60 costs.
MANSFIELD man Simon Haskard (32), of Bamford Drive, was slapped with a £70 fine for drug possession by Mansfield magistrates last Wednesday.
