A 32-YEAR-OLD man who tried to grow cannabis at his Huthwaite home has been sentenced to 180 hours unpaid work.
John Radford spent £200 setting up a small hydroponic system in a bedroom at the house on Newcastle Street.
"But he did not make a very good job of it," his barrister Steven Taylor told Nottingham Crown Court on Monday. "It was a fairly modest affair and did not work."
Police raided the premises in October 2006 and also found amphetamines valued at between £330 and £680.
Radford admitted possession of amphetamine and cultivating cannabis and in addition to the work for the community, he was also ordered to pay £370 court costs.
