A SUTTON drug dealer who was caught in possession of a machete and a baton has been jailed for five years.
Nicolas Dabell (29), of Alexandra Avenue, was handed four years for three counts of supplying heroin and a further year for possession of a blade after admitting the offences at Nottingham Crown Court.

Judge Dudley Bennett told him: "Those who carry weapons like that must realise they can kill."

An undercover police officer made test purchases of the drug from him on 26th, 30th and 31st October last year in Sutton and he was caught with the machete and extendable baton on 26th November.

The court was told he had already spent 133 days in custody on remand and had previous convictions, including one for assaulting a police officer.

His barrister Ian Way said drugs had ruled Dabell's life and he owed considerable debts to a dealer.

He had been put in hospital and had windows broken at his home. It was through fear for his safety that he had the weapons with him, but he was now drug free for the first time in a long time.

Judge Bennett told Dabell on 8th April: "I see you as a low-level street dealer selling to fund your habit and pay off debts."
