TWO of Hollywood's biggest names in comedy have come up with Zack and Miri Make a Porno –– a film which bares very little in the way of surprises.
Directing is Kevin Smith, who rose to fame thanks to 90s comedies like Mallrats and Clerks. And in an attempt to return to the form of those years after the fairly terrible Clerks 2 in 2006, Zack and Miri includes many of the hallmarks that made those films so iconic.

Just like Clerks, this is a 'slacker' film. Zack (Seth Rogen) –– a coffee shop worker ––and Miri (Elizabeth Banks), who works at the local mall, are room mates and are facing big money problems.

It's after striking up a conversation with a former classmate, who turns out to be an adult film star, the pair decide they might make some easy money in that industry –– and come up with the idea of a pornographic Star Wars parody.

But what seems like a chance at making a quick buck turns out to be a difficult experience for the pair when they develop strong feelings for each other.

Seth Rogen has starred in films like The 40-year-old Virgin , You Me and Dupree and in Zack and Miri he does not stray from the 'man-child' character we see him play in those films.

Not that you would expect anything less with a title like this film has, but this is not for the easily offended. The swearing comes thick and fast, almost impressively so, and if it's your thing there are definitely some entertaining potty-mouthed moments.

The strangest contradiction in Zack and Miri is that although the crude language, subject matter and general tone has caused an uproar on release and has in fact been banned in some parts of the USA, beneath it all the plot is actually fairly standard rom-com fare.

That said, for some filmgoers, the idea of Seth Rogen and Kevin Smith teaming up is a dream come true –– and with Zack and Miri they will get exactly what they paid for.
