BRIAN Hawkins, second right, and Ian Bowmer, right, present a £9,065 cheque to trustee vice-chairman Mary Beeley, left, accepting the money for the John Eastwood Hospice.
The cash was raised through an 84-mile sponsored walk along Hadrian's Wall, from Carlisle to Newcastle, in May last year and is the third walk completed by the group in aid of the hospice, with the total amount raised more than £35,000.

Diane Humphries, hospice trust manager, said the money would be used towards buying a replacement minibus to take patients on day trips.

She added: "The group have raised a huge amount of money for the hospice which is a terrific boost to our funds."

The walking group thanked their sponsors and Warsop Rotary Club, which donated a minibus free of charge for the journey north.

  • Also pictured are, from second left, walkers Michael Dickinson, Peter Hoyland, Gareth Hoyland, Paul Sanders and Callum Bowmer. Glyn Bowmer and Simon Hoyland, not pictured, also participated in the fundraiser.
