PEDAL power . . . riders from Olympians from Ashfield Support In Sport (OASIS) take a well-earned breather after their fundraising 16-man cycle from Hucknall to Sutton.
The group was formed to give Paralympian swimmer Sam Hynd and his family essential support during the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing.

Kirkby-born Sam recently swam a world record in the 400m Freestyle S8 category in the Paralympic World Cup in Manchester, finishing almost nine seconds ahead of his closest rivals.

Group member Carol Hallam, third left, says that although the race was hard work, it was made enjoyable by the team spirit shown by all the cyclists.

She said: "It was a tough ride with the rainy conditions but we stopped along the way to make some bucket collections and are hoping to raise around £1,500 overall.

"I'd like to thank everyone who took part in the race for giving up their time and those who gave generously along the way."

  • To make a donation contact Carol on Mansfield 457410 or 07884 118000.
