Open your MIND - and find out more about our Chad charity

CENTRAL Notts MIND will be holding its annual meeting on Tuesday to encourage people to find out more about Chad's chosen charity for 2008 and what they can do to help it.
Bosses say almost anybody can become a volunteer or board member to help improve the lives of those with mental health difficulties and drive the charity forward.
There are currently nine trustees on the charity's board, which meets each month and is made up of both service users and community members.
Trustee board chairman Peter Robinson told Chad he found the role very rewarding and interesting, saying: "I became a board member in March 2000 when I was a volunteer and became chairman in July 2002. Since then I have learned a great deal about MIND and get involved in many aspects of its work –– and it has helped me in the support of my son.
"Being chairman is very enjoyable but it can be difficult making sure people feel they can have their say and we are increasingly involved in making important decisions."
The meeting –– which takes place at Concord House, on St John Street, Mansfield, from 6pm –– will cover the charity's accounts and elections to the board, while people will have the opportunity to chat to current staff, air their views on mental health and make donations.
Anybody interested in becoming a Central Notts MIND volunteer or trustee or who would like to organise a charity event or make a donation to Central Notts MIND should contact Girish Ravat on Mansfield 658044.
