A CASH injection has helped a local charity continue its popular activities programme helping elderly and vulnerable residents.
The Jigsaw Support Scheme received £10,000 from Chad's adopted cause the Nottinghamshire Community Foundation (NCF) through the Coalfield's Regeneration Trust (CRT).

Jigsaw aims to help isolated people live at home and enjoy independence and a bet
ter quality of life.

Operating out of Mansfield's Intake Business Centre, on Kirkland Avenue, staff provide a range of classes designed to help with mobility, memory, health, well-being and preventing social isolation.

These range from card making and paper crafts to games and gentle exercise.

With the much-needed donation from the NCF, organisers say they will now be able to continue their important work and improve activities available to people in Mansfield and Ashfield.

NCF trustee Fran Walker went to Jigsaw's card-making class at Meden Vale last month to present the cheque to delighted Jigsaw activities co-ordinator Jayne Bradley and fundraising and communications officer Caroline Merrick.

Says Caroline: "The activities are really popular and provide a brilliant way for those who may not want to go to more formal classes, or those with physical or sensory disabilities, to learn new skills, meet new people and get involved with others in the community.

"We'd like to say a big thank you to Fran and everyone at NCF and CRT for helping us to continue the service."
