CHAD'S charity for 2008 has been given a financial boost by Nottinghamshire County Council to help fund the day-to-day running costs of its essential services.
Central Notts MIND received £76,340 from the council for the financial year April 2007 to March 2008 to enable it continue to support people with mental health difficulties.

The money is a contribution that is crucial to aid the existing continua
tion of part of Central Notts MIND's quality services in its Mansfield and Kirkby activity centres.

Said Coun Alan Rhodes, cabinet member for adult social care and health: "Central Nottinghamshire MIND is essential to mental healthcare in the district, and offers many important services to the community.

"In recognition of this, Nottinghamshire County Council has awarded it a substantial grant which will go a long way towards adding financial stability to the organisation."

Central Notts MIND general manager Girish Ravat said the cash boost is fundamental to enable the charity to continue running its services but more funding is needed to allow the organisation to move forwards.
"The funding is crucial," says Girish.

"Without it a lot of our key services would grind to a halt which would leave many vulnerable people with no where else to go for help.

"We are very grateful for the cash from Nottinghamshire County Council but it will only cover the basics. More funding is needed to help us modernise our facilities.

"One of our main priorities is to install ramps at our Mansfield and Sutton centres to make them more accessible to disabled users and those with other disabilities.

"We are currently working with our local community service to get some of the decorating underway so that we only pay for the materials and they provide the labour.

"Any donation would be greatly received and go a long way to bringing our centres up to date and creating a more pleasant environment for our members."

•Anybody wanting more information about Central Notts MIND or who would like to organise a charity event or make a donation to the charity should contact Girish Ravat on Mansfield 658044.

•Central Notts MIND is looking for trustees to sit on its Mansfield board of directors. The role would involve attending a monthly meeting and helping to make strategic decisions. Preferably trustees would have experience of voluntary work or running a business. Anybody interested in becoming a trustee should contact Girish Ravat on Mansfield 658044.
