A CASH boost from Chad's chosen charity the Nottinghamshire Community Foundation (NCF) has helped transform a community centre.
NCF bosses have dished out more than £6,000 to sustainability group Meden Vale the Future, which used the money towards this year's repair and refurbishment of Meden Vale Village Hall.

The hall was officially opened last week when guests were welcomed in to check out the new facilities and those responsible for funding were thanked for their support.

NCF supported the group through the Bridging the Gap Fund, which covered the cost of a portable dance floor and new tables and chairs.

Members of Meden Vale the Future decided to carry out work on the old village hall after it was considered too costly to run.

Previously, the hall was used as a youth club, but the refurbishment has now given it village hall and community centre status, which will allow it to accommodate many new groups.

During the grand opening, a service was held in which the centre was officially re-named as a village hall and Nottinghamshire County Council chairman Coun John Allin proposed a toast to the building.

Meden Vale the Future has thanked the NCF, saying its help is invaluable and vital in achieving their aims and now say they hope many groups will turn to the village hall as a venue for future activities.
